MODULE DESCRIPTION:
An explanation of the process and techniques that are used to assess environmental and social impacts of upcoming projects. It provides an overview of the key points to look for when considering conducting an environmental impact assessment (EIA) and the steps to complete the assessment.
MODULE OBJECTIVES:
- Define an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)
- Understand the purpose of an Environmental Impact Assessment
- Learn the legal standing of an Environmental Impact Assessment
- Describe the process of conducting an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment
ASSESSMENT:
The training module includes case studies and exercises to reinforce learning.
MODULE OUTCOME:
Delegates will understand the key issues to consider when conducting EIA and the stages in a typical EIA process, including baseline surveys, Environmental Impact Identification (ENVID), modelling, impact assessment and identifying mitigations and monitoring requirements.
