Multi-discipline NDT Technician Required

Asset Integrity Engineering (AIE) is currently looking to recruit a multi-discipline NDT technician to be permanently based in AIE’s head office in Sharjah, UAE.

Summary of Role:

NDT Technician will be responsible for performing all calibrations, non-destructive tests and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record results. Level II Technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method of NDT being used and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of assistants and Level I Technicians. Level II Technicians organize and report results of NDT.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Acquisition of the approved work order/request and procedure prior to onsite testing
  • Verify all the equipment/ accessories/consumables to be utilized are having valid calibration/conformity certificates and are appropriate for use as per the approved procedures
  • Inform the Site Coordinator/Supervisor of problems involving shortcomings, safety issues etc. for necessary further action to resolve the matter
  • Report all unsafe conditions, expire calibration, lost or damaged equipment and reject work instructions on the ground of safety
  • Ensure safety of equipment, self-protection and public protection against ionizing radiation
  • Liaise directly with Client/Client Representatives on job specific topics as and when required
  • Install barricading, warning signs, warning lights as required by site conditions prior to start of radiography work
  • Perform area monitoring using Radiation Survey Meter and wear Radiation safety monitoring gadgets such as TLD & Pocket Dosimeter during RT operation
  • Perform verification & calibration of instrument characteristics prior to executing NDT
  • Carried out NDT works in related specialization and expertise in accordance with the approved procedures and in compliance with referencing Codes/Standards
  • Carried out processing, evaluating and sentencing of Radiographs and perform film interpretation & analysis
  • Prepare report of Inspection findings and ensure results are conforming with Standards or Specification prior submittal to Client
  • Provide assistance to Site Coordinator/Supervisor as required

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Holding a Mechanical Engineering Degree is preferred
  • Minimum 10 years  work experience in the Oil and Gas Industry and minimum 5 years experience in NDT & Welding Inspection
  • Holding PCN Level II in UT inspection is mandatory
  • Holding PCN Level II in MPT, DP, RT, etc. is preferred
  • Qualified in H2S, Confined Space, HUET, Bosiet, other HSSE
  • Plant experience in control work is mandatory
  • Having previous PA experience is preferred
  • Capable of site work, above/below ground, over water and in confined spaces
  • Can evaluate and assess condition to governing standard/code requirements
  • Can reject work instruction on grounds of safety
  • Signatory for relevant Timesheets, NDT reports, Calibration certificates and NDT job requests.
  • Certified as ASNT Level II in UT, RT, MPT and PT at least but not limited
  • Working knowledge of AIE quality systems and NDT process
  • Fluent in English language, spoken and written
  • Eye certification at least J2 without color blindness
  • Capable of writing Technical Test Report
