Upon completing the study, the client further understood the physical condition of their facility in addition to the financial implications of the way the facility was operated and was provided with a roadmap to close the identified gaps. This endeavour aimed to mitigate the detrimental impact of corrosion and enhance the longevity of critical assets. Our team meticulously conducted corrosion risk assessments, leveraging Veracity CCM, data analysis, and industry best practices to develop tailored solutions. The corrosion management program has resulted in a reduction in unplanned downtime, savings in maintenance costs, increased asset life expectancy, and enhanced operational efficiency. Moreover, our program prioritized environmental responsibility by reducing the use of chemicals and waste. In summary, our corrosion management program not only safeguarded our client’s assets but also bolstered their bottom line while promoting sustainability, demonstrating our commitment to delivering holistic solutions that yield tangible, long-lasting benefits.

Pipeline Safety Class and Impact Assessment

AIE successfully completed a safety class review and impact assessments as well as integrity assessments of major gas pipelines in the utility sector. Over the years, substantial land development occurred along existing pipeline routes, necessitating a comprehensive examination of whether the original design factors are still applicable and whether they align with ASME B31.8 criteria. The decision to assess the integrity of these pipelines underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of its infrastructure, particularly in light of evolving urban landscapes and the imperative to meet or exceed established safety standards. AIE's invaluable expertise and extensive experience were crucial in performing this task and ensuring uninterrupted power generation and water supply, thereby safeguarding the well-being and vitality of the residents and industries in the city.

National utilities company digitises operational surveillance

AIE supported an East African utilities company in the development and implementation of a digital solution across their asset base for digitizing operational surveillance. This cutting-edge solution leverages digital tablets to seamlessly record routine plant inspections and walk-throughs, marking a significant stride toward the future of operational surveillance. The client was able to optimize their maintenance program as accurate watchkeeping data provided justification to validate and optimize their maintenance programs. A reduction in the frequency of preventative maintenance tasks allowed technicians to be deployed to higher criticality activities elsewhere within the facilities. A further consequence from the outcomes of the work was improved equipment availability and sustained energy production. AIE supported the client in predicting future failures through watchkeeping, and taking timely action. As a result, theoperators were able to decrease their maintenance burden, eliminate repairs and therefore ultimately improve equipment availability and reliability.

Risk Management Process Setup and Operationalization for established operator

Risk management is an established process in the power industry, given its inherent high-risk hazards. AIE worked with a client who unfortunately had highly deficient risk registers and inadequate risk management processes. This led to AIE taking the Client on a transformational journey, including but not limited to the scope discussed herein. AIE was responsible for setting up and operationalizing a comprehensive risk management process, ensuring that the systems and processes developed were highly practical, flexible, and transparent and that they were mutually aligned with one another with each having its set of responsible and accountable personnel defined and trained. This resulted in known and accessible asset risks that were clearly defined, prioritized and assessed in a master, consolidated risk register, each risk having a set of delegated actions that continue to be tracked and reviewed regularly.
